Luther!

What I learned from Luther the movie was that Luther had a very difficult life. But the only reason he did have such a difficult life was because he stood up for what he believed in. Even when he was asked to repent, he wouldn't. He wanted to see change and for people to see his truth behind religion and life. He really was against indulgences, to him it was just a piece of paper that you had to pay a lot of money for. And it wasn't really fair to the poor because the nobles could just buy their way into heaven. To him charity was the way to get into heaven. Luther explained to the woman in the movie with the crippled daughter that an indulgence won't do anything for her and to save her money for something that would actually help her daughter. And in the end, she followed Luther's advice and used the money she got from Luther to get her daughter crutches so that she could walk. In the beginning Luther had a hard time understanding God and what everything means, and there was a few parts in the movie that he was going a little bit crazy trying to figure things out. He believed that The Pope should just be a figure of the Catholic Church but not be able to control everything. He would just use poor people's money to construct money instead of using his own and was all together a bad man. Luther's ideas were new and this was the first time that someone questioned the Church. Even though many many people died, his thoughts prevailed and people were allowed to practice Lutheranism. This is only because Luther stood up against all odds and fought hard enough for what he believed in.
