Holocaust Reflection

Of the online resources, the ones that were the most surprising were the Kristallnacht video, the 8 stages of genocide, and the Nazi Eugenics. It is insane that Hitler had already assembled so much hatred of the Jews through his propaganda that the German people killed 2500 Jews in one night, with no order from him. It also attests to the 8th stage of genocide, "Denial" that the number of deaths had been thought of as a substantial lower number until more research was done. The 8 stages of Genocide was a very well written explanation of how an illogical hatred evolves into the mass murder of millions. It also compared the Holocaust to other Genocides like Rwanda, which highlights the importance of the 8 stages. The Nazi Eugenics link didn't work for me so I researched it myself and found out a lot about the Nazi policies on "Racial Purification". Although Jews were the most common target, others included, the physically or mentally impaired, degenerates, dissidents, and homosexuals. I already knew what happened during the holocaust, but these three resources in particular helped me visualize the control Hitler had over the German people and the thought out, sadistic plan he had to "ease into" a genocide of millions. It is almost depressing to think what you would have done if you were in a German person's shoes during the Holocaust, would you stand up in protest, or fall in with the millions of other Germans Hitler used as puppets.
